Only the specifications for the vinyl are described here.
Mint (M) or Sealed
Vinyl
Perfect in every respect. Has certainly never been played and may even still be sealed.
CD
Perfect. No scuffs/scratches, unplayed - possibly still sealed.
Excellent (NM)
Vinyl
A near-perfect record. An Excellent record may have been played. When played, the record plays perfectly and without any noise. The record should show no visible signs of use. However, slight hairlines (such as those caused by removing the record from the sleeve) may occasionally appear.
CD
FNearly perfect. No obvious signs of use; it may have been played, but was treated with the utmost care.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Vinyl
Generally worth about 50% of an Excellent record. A record in Very Good Plus condition shows slight signs of play, but was treated with care by its previous owner. Any flaws should be cosmetic and not affect the overall playback. The surface of the record may show minor signs of use, light scuffs, or very light scratches, which do not diminish the listening experience. Slight eccentricity is considered "fine" as long as it does not affect the sound.
CD
A few light scuffs or scratches. The disc has been played but handled carefully; it has not been "worn out".
Very Good (VG)
Vinyl
Generally rated at 25% of the Excellent rating. Many of the defects found on a VG+ record are more pronounced. Surface noise is audible during playback, particularly during quieter passages and at the beginning and end of a track, but otherwise does not overpower the music. Groove wear gradually becomes noticeable, and light scratches (i.e., those deep enough to be felt with a fingernail) impair the sound.
CD
A number of minor scuffs/scratches or a few more noticeable scratches. The CD has obviously been played, but not handled as carefully as a VG+ -CD.
Good (G)
Vinyl
Generally rated at 10-15% of the Excellent rating. A record in "Good" or "Good Plus" condition plays through without skipping, but exhibits significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. Although the record plays without skipping, the listening experience will most likely be accompanied by significant surface noise and "cracks."
CD
There are many scuffs/scratches. The CD plays through without issues, despite being very carelessly handled overall.
Poor (P), Fair (F)
Vinyl
Generally has a value of 0-5% of Excellent. The record is broken or severely warped and will not play without skipping or jamming.
CD
Some or all of the tracks on the CD may not be playable (unless the CD is missing).
Generic
The term "generic" refers to sleeves that are not specific to a single release. A "generic" sleeve is therefore either a neutral sleeve or one that has a standardized, company-specific design, but not a release-specific one. A sleeve classified as "generic" does not require further evaluation, as it can usually be easily replaced and does not normally contribute significantly to the value of a release.
